Over the last week, every time I’m frustrated with someone or something, I remember I need to flip the mirror and look back at me.
Am I leading with love?
I’m sure there are a plethora of examples of when God is frustrated with me. But, even when he’s frustrated, his correction is done from a place of love.
He even gave us his son, Jesus, because he loved us.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NLT
Additionally, the greatest commandment in the Bible reminds us to love.
“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:36-39 NLT
Reminding myself of this caused me to change my heart posture. I wanted my words and actions to be rooted in love.
Leading with love allowed me to approach others with empathy and compassion before I responded back to anyone and to ensure I was coming from a place of love.
I have to say, I’m not going to always get this right. However, I’m never striving for perfection, only progress. Therefore, I can give myself grace and correct next time.
I’m sure we can all agree the world needs more people leading with love.
What action will you to take to lead with love this week?
