Forty years ago to date, on November 23, 1978, my oldest sister was born. I’m pretty sure televisions were still in black in white and sat only on the floor. Lol jk.
Can you guess what today is? Today is my oldest sister’s birthday and I want to share why I’m grateful for her. So my sister took me in when I was in college and taught me the hardest and best listen there was to learn: budgeting and saving.
I remember having several conversations with her about my account “being in the red” and she would tell me well make better choices. Lol. Tough lesson to learn, but I’m glad I learned such a valuable lesson to help me be the woman I am today. She also taught me how to make dressing, which is the best Thanksgiving food ever! #pointblankperiod. This is not up for discussion. ???
She’s always supportive of my overly ambitious goals and was one of my biggest cheerleaders through graduate school and is still a cheerleader for me today.
In case you didnt know I love to talk, thankfully, she’s a great listener and listened attentively to my boring stories. Sometimes, she will even give feedback when not asked??, however because she’s my big sis, I listen anyway.
She was the only one of my siblings who spoke at our father’s funeral and had something positive to say to each one of her younger six sisters. So, today I say Happy 40th Birthday Big Sis and thank you for the wisdom you have imparted in me. I love you.
P.S. If you dont have a big sis, I will share mine with you!!!
