I heard someone say last week, “Jesus hung out with sinners.” I pondered on that statement for a couple of days and I agree Jesus was around sinners.
However, I’ll also like to add some context, because things taken out of context can be misconstrued and sound vague. ?
Everywhere that Jesus went – he was very aware of his purpose. He knew he had limited time and realized that his goal was to do the will of his Father, God. *John 4:34
When Jesus was around unbelievers he was performing miracles and teaching them. Read the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The multitudes followed him, he wasn’t following them. That’s a whole word! ?? He was an example to others.
God also calls us to be a light to others. He created us in his image. *Genesis 1:27 He wants us to be a reflection of his character. Scripture reminds us that we should be in the world, but not of the world. *John 17:16-26
How is that even possible?
Of course, we live here in the world, but every single day, you have to make a decision to follow Christ. This is a process, and it doesn’t all happen overnight. But gradually, there should be noticeable changes in your behavior, your attitude, your speech, and your character. Others will soon say, there is something different about you! ?And you and I can respond and say it is the God in me. ??
Scripture of the Day:
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 KJV
