The Best Gift Ever

Usually, around the holidays, most are excited to give. But what if we gave to others all year? How can we impact the world around us?

Life is happening all around us every day. Currently, we are in a global pandemic and people are longing for someone to reach out to them.

Often when people think of giving you think of money, but there’s much more you can give that doesn’t require a monetary token. Of course, if you have money, then be generous, but I’m going to share with you the best gift I received. Hopefully, you can share it with others! The best gift I’ve ever received- is the gift of salvation and you can have that same gift!

All you have to say is: 

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of a savior. I thank You for dying on the cross for my sins and rising from the dead to save me. By transferring my total trust to You alone as my Savior, I now receive the forgiveness for my sins and the free gift of eternal life that You offer me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

If you prayed this prayer, I’m excited with you and heaven is rejoicing over the gift you received of eternal life with God.

Here are three practical steps that I’ll share:

  1. Find a church home to join, because we thrive in a community.
  2. Read the Bible, even if it is only a scripture a day.
  3. Communicate with God through prayer.

Remember, when we become disciples of Christ, we become a conduit that God uses to impact others.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

De-Pressed

This is a topic request I received from a friend.

The holidays are approaching rapidly and it’s statistically shown depression and suicidal rates increase during the holiday season.

Depression is one of those things that you can easily suffer from and hide from others. You can go through your daily task, attend functions, and sometimes successfully mask your feelings.

You hide your true feelings from others- all to return home and get in the bed and feel de-pressed. I can easily talk about depression because that was my personal experience years ago- I would go out with my friends on the weekend and come home and wouldn’t do anything else at all. Thankfully, with prayer, I was able to overcome that season which occurred many years ago.

Remember, this holiday season is different for many, due to Covid and job loss. More people are likely to stay at home and not travel to see family or friends.

So with that being said, it brings about a great opportunity to reach out to a family member, a friend, a co-worker, or a neighbor to check on them. Maybe you can drop off groceries, send them a holiday card, call them or send a text. When I mention sending a text, I don’t mean the mass group text message chains either.

Also, this is not something that has to stop after the holidays, this can be done continuously. Do something nice for someone else without expecting anything in return.

Luggage

Storytime: I was at the airport this weekend with my luggage with the swivel wheels. While walking through the airport, trying to get to my destination I tried to pull the luggage from behind me like my prior luggage without swivel wheels. It felt like my luggage was much heavier when I tried to pull it vs. using it how it was designed to be used.

So, I checked in my luggage with the attendant and felt so free from having so much baggage with me!

I thought about this and realized this is what happens when we carry baggage that should be released. The extra baggage feels like it weighs us down physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Extra baggage can be unnecessary stress, failure to release people or things from your life. Everyone’s extra baggage can look different depending on our personal life experiences.

So there’s no reason to carry all of that weight around with us – when there is probably nothing we can do about it anyway. The Bible tells us we can cast our cares on him because he careth for us. Allow Jesus to lead and for the Holy Spirit to walk with us with ease.

How do you release your baggage to God?

I’m glad you asked. I acknowledge any issue that I’m dealing with and bring it to God in prayer. Once I bring it to God, I give him free rein to handle it and intervene on my behalf. That means I no longer try to fix it myself. ?

Try it the next time you feel weighed down by the cares of this world!

Be blessed! Release all your baggage to Jesus!

Love

Here’s to my shortest blog I’ve written so far, but it is centered around such an important topic- Love.

With everything going on with the elections, a pandemic and so much more it is easy to become frustrated.

But, one thing we have to remember is to continue to love one another despite differences in opinions or beliefs.

Life is so short to hold grudges or to allow someone to get you out of character.

God has called me as a believer to show love for everyone just as he has loved us.

None of us are perfect. We don’t always get it right or at least I know I don’t. But I’ve made a decision that I’ll continue to show love to others.

At this moment, think of one of the people you dislike the most and know that God loves you and that person too. I also love you as well. Remember, love is a choice, I choose to show love.

Scripture: “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. Seek God First

Do y’all talk to God first about your plans or do you make plans first and then ask God to bless them afterward?

If you read any of my blogs, you will know that I choose to be honest and transparent. So I’ll share that I was the latter part of that question until about a week ago when God got me right on together. ?

I’m grateful that I have a ton of ideas and plans -some come from God and some from me. ? But I’m at the point in my life in which I realize I’ve made a ton of mistakes. I also realize that God can turn anything for my good see scripture- Romans 8:28

However, I just want my good to work for my good, especially if I can avoid detours by consulting God first and asking for his consideration in my plans.

One thing I’ve realized about God is that he wants to be first in everything we do.

See scripture example:

But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I haven’t always sought him first, but I am now.

How do you seek God first?

I’m glad you asked. I’ll share the practical steps that I have taken to put God first. I’ve mentioned before that I journal pray. So now, I write out a list of my plans and ideas in my journal and I ask God what do you think of them? And then I leave blank lines in my journal for him to speak to me. And I sit quietly and wait. Sometimes he answers immediately, other times he may confirm it with someone else or while I’m reading scripture.

But for me, I’m not sharing any ideas or plans with anyone else until I have a yes from Heaven! Because I want to be in his will when I do all things!

No One Else is You

Often time we get discouraged because we see others doing things that God has called us to do. At that moment, we can think, what’s the point?!!! There are already so many authors, coaches, motivational speakers, singers, artists, fitness instructors, chefs, etc.

We may look at the market as being “oversaturated”. But, if God called you to do something it doesn’t matter. You can have a niche in a market you deem as an overly saturated market and be profitable. 


I think about a quote, that says,

One flower doesn’t worry about another flower, it just blooms!

There are a ton of different flowers, but if you ask around we may all have a different favorite that we will purchase.

Remember, no one else has your DNA or your God-given vision. Your most beautiful skillset is that there is no one else is like you. Own being you!
