Learning Patience

Storytime: In the last couple of weeks the damages to my work laptop progressed expeditiously to the point of my company sending me a new laptop. Yay! ?

My thinking: New laptop everything is going to be great!

Wrong! ? It took at least 3 days to get to a point where I could work again and have access to the majority of my systems.

But in the process of waiting for them to update my device, back up documents, transfer files, remote into my device, etc… we ran into several hiccups that required me to be patient.

In the days of frustration, I was tempted to go back to my old laptop because it felt familiar. I at least knew the limitations that my old laptop caused to my workflow.

I reminded myself, a new laptop is exactly what I wanted and needed to do my job effectively. So, I remained patient. I also remembered the days I requested what I now had. I knew the set up for my new laptop was worth the wait and my patience.

This situation reminded me of so many other circumstances. We pray for things, God gives them to us, and then when the thing we prayed for requires a little work we get frustrated. But in those moments, don’t forget what you prayed for even if your blessing requires a little work on your part!

Biblical Stories: The Story of Hezekiah Sickness

  1. Scripture Reference 2 Kings 20: 1-12

In this story, the prophet Isaiah comes and delivers some news to Hezekiah to get his house in order because he was sick and was going to die soon.

Hezekiah was a man who loved God and honored him, so he wept when he received the news. He also reminded God of how he lived his life and that he served the one and only true God, the Lord God.

Before Isaiah could leave the area, he heard another word from the Lord. God said I would add 15 years to Hezekiah’s life and that Hezekiah would be healed.

So, Isaiah turned around to deliver this news. Although Hezekiah heard this he needed a sign to confirm what God said…

Happy Birthday Shun

Today is her 30th birthday! Sigh, she’s getting old! ?

Today is all about her, don’t let anyone tell you differently.

So let me tell y’all about Shun: She’s the sister that you do not look at when something funny happens in a church – because y’all will both be in trouble for laughing. ???

Also, if you are hungry, cook before her because she can take an hour to make a sandwich. Although, if you convince her to make you some food, particularly a salad it will be delicious. ??

So side note: I played pretend school with my younger sisters and I was always the teacher. Shun was the best student because she actually came to class every day. I may or may not have taken attendance and had a grade book. ??

One of my most memorable moments is when we were younger, she was probably about 8 years old. She was upset at my mom for something and decided she was going to run away from home on her bike. Welp, by the time she reached the end of the driveway her chain popped off of her bicycle so she came right back home. ????

She has undeniable strength, despite knowing everything that she has traversed through in life, and guess what y’all – she’s still standing! I admire that about her!

In addition, she’s also super talented – she can sing and draw amongst many others. Cheers to an amazing 30th year of life!

It is in the PRESS!

I have heard a couple of sermons about “the pressing season” and it has me thinking about my own pressing experience. I feel like my pressing season, started last year when I released my first book and was going through a break up all at the same time. (Plug – Book Link – also in IG BIO). LOL.

My pressuring season:

I remember feeling emotionally and physically drained in multiple areas of my life. I prepared myself for the worst and was like okay you are going to be depressed and lose about 10 to 15 pounds, but that did not happen. Lol. The moment that was supposed to break me, propelled me into my purpose.

I had help:

During that season, I pressed into God like never before and cultivated my relationship with him. I literally read Ephesians chapter 1, 2 and 3 repeatedly. Lol. In addition, I had friends that called me and the best therapist.

What did it produce:

Out of the pressing season came revelation of my purpose. Be careful what you pray for. Lol. I remember probably for a year or so before my pressing season, I prayed for God to reveal my purpose to me. I did not expect for it to happen like it did, but I am grateful that it did.

The enemy thought he buried me, but I had purpose in me. My pressing season helped me to fertilize the seed and the soil that God predestined for me.  My pressing season produced a pathway to my purpose that God is revealing daily.

Biblical Story-time: The Healing of Jairus Daughter

We are back with biblical story-time and we are talking about when Jesus heals the daughter of Jairus.

The main two things I learned about this story is: be careful of your circle and who surrounds you. Jesus told everyone else to get out of the house except for the daughter’s parents and three disciples: Peter, James, and John the brother of James that was it! In addition, sometimes a blessing may be delayed, so continue to have faith and believe. The story talks about she died before Jesus arrived, but Jesus continued to her anyway and told her Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And she arose and walked! ??????

Happy Birthday – Cheers to 32

Hey, y’all hey! It’s my quarantined ? Birthday! #turnup ?

Anywho – Do y’all talk to yourself or say daily affirmations? Well, I do.  Like the scripture says, life and death are in the power of your tongue. I choose to speak life to myself and my situations around me!  I wrote a blog or affirmation to myself for my 32nd Birthday that I will share with y’all.

Side note: When I talk to myself – I call myself by my government name, so here it goes! ?

Hey, bruh! Happy Born Day! Out of all days in the year, God ordained for you to be born on this day, August 31st. #howsway

I’m so proud of you for everything you have accomplished. It is amazing watching you continue to grow and blossom into the woman God predestined for you to be.

You are absolutely stunning and gorgeous too. ☺️

You are strong.

You are resilient.

You are fine fine! ?

You can literally do anything – with God’s help, of course.

This year is full of changes, readjustments, twists, turns, smiles, frowns, and sometimes even tears. But the most beautiful thing is you are still here. You have navigated through unseen quarantined territories like the boss that you are! Keep going! I’m rooting for you!

Guess what? There is no daily checklist to this thing called life, but you are figuring it out with God’s help. Be flexible because you aren’t perfect and no one expects you to be. Continue to forgive yourself and others and utilize all the gifts and talents that God has given you.

Your purpose is to serve others and please God – continue to focus on that. You have a beautiful family and amazing friends that God ordained to be in your life.

Continue to grow in God and grace. And lastly, as you embark on chapter 32, remember that I will continue to honor and respect you. And most importantly, I will always love you.
