2020. Or as my lovely phone corrects me, it is Year 2,020. ? Day 1 of 366. It’s a leap year. I’m so excited about this new year and everything I have planned. New content coming soon! New ventures, collaborations, new goals and some rollover goals, new friends (but I’m keeping my current friends as well), more networking, less stress, no drama, more time with God, more travel, walking in purpose and worrying less. Sigh, that was a run-on sentence, but y’all caught my drift. ?I have plans and goals for 2020; however, as Dr.Evans stated- I’m leaving room for God to intervene.

I received this as a topic request from a friend- she requested that I share what I’ve learned about myself this year and about traveling.

Since it is the end of 2019, I’ll make a list of my top 19 things I’ve learned about myself and traveling.

So, here it is…

1. My most important relationship is with God and then myself. God and I talk a lot. Lol.

2. I’m my favorite person to hang around. I enjoy being me!

3. I’m resilient. I may go through things, but I bounce back.

4. I can be fearless, sometimes. Lol.

5. I’m learning patience and not to rush into things. Sometimes I have to take a step back and evaluate the situation.

6. I’m starting to blossom into who I am. I scare myself sometimes, because I’m not sure what to expect, but I’m enjoying it.

7. I love being around people, but I also enjoy being by myself.

8. Traveling is my favorite, expensive hobby.

9. I’m an unconventional traveler. I may not pick the most convenient way to get to a place, but I’ll still get to the sight to enjoy it.

10. I can’t travel with everyone. ??‍♀️

11. Traveling allows me to be free and live in the moment.

12. I’m content being single, until God sends someone my way.

13. I want to go everywhere in the world, so I’m always trying to book a trip.

14. Life isn’t about how many friends you have, but it is about enjoying moment with the ones that you do have.

15. Embrace change. I’m at the age, in which friendships change rapidly. Just go with the changes instead of trying to control it and allow life to happen.

16. I will do what I love, even if it isn’t popular.

17. I like to share what I’ve learned, if it means I can help someone else in their journey.

18. I may never know every piece of my purpose; however, with the parts I do know, I will continue taking baby steps. You never know where it will lead you.

19. I now have the ability to do for others, what I would have wanted someone to do for me.

I’ve learned so much, but I’ll continue to share things throughout 2020. My word for the year is still flexibility. I’m learning to be flexible in every area of my life.

This blog topic was given to my from my sister.
Story time: On Christmas Day my family and I were playing this game called slap Jack. The objective of the game is for everyone to throw down a card each round quickly and when you see a Jack or the Joker card, you slap your hand down to retrieve all the cards that are underneath. The game ends when everyone is out of cards and only one person is remaining with cards.
As we were, playing, we quickly noticed that when someone had less than maybe 5 or 10 cards, they went into something we labeled as a “desperate mode strategy” to ensure they remained alive in the game. It was if they became adamant about staying in the game and start thinking of “interesting” strategies to keep from losing. Although, it was fun and comical to watch them in this mode, it was amusing to see if this concept could be applied into other areas of our life.

Webster defines desperate as: having an urgent need, desire.

Humor me for a second, what if we desired or were desperate for spending time with God daily?
The term desperation and desire, reminds me of the word “thirsty”.
What would happen to our city, our world if we remained “thirsty” for God? Or we became adamant about being in his presence and talking to him daily.
Often times, we don’t seek God until tragedy hits or we need something. Of course, God is always there as our father waiting with open arms, but imagine for a second, if we would communicate with him daily and remain “desperate” to spend time with or hear from him all the time. Think about how drastically our communication with God would change. We could possibly be in sync with the voice of God and actually live the latter of the scripture of Proverbs 3:5, which says, “trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not to thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy path. #howsway

Question of the Day: Before the year ends, how can you plan ahead to spend time with God?

Whew chile, trying to date in 2019 is an experience. Some of the guys are “interesting”. ???? I think that is the best word to describe my dating experiences lately. Lol. ⠀

Here is my list of growing questions to ask on dates.⠀

Storytime: I went on ONE date with a guy and afterward the date, the guy assumed we were dating. ? No, sir, this isn’t how this works. ?⠀I realize the dating world has changed drastically in the last couple of years. I guess I’m old school, texting is cool, but I want a guy to call me “if” I’m interested in them. Now days, a follow on social media and liking a few of someone’s picture is considered someone showing interest. ? Interest is cool, but where is your effort boo? Lol. ??‍♀️⠀Even in the short amount of time I have dated, I think the key thing to dating: is to treat someone with the same respect you would want someone to give you and to ask the right questions. #communication⠀

6. Is there anyone who believes you are in a relationship with them?⠀

10. Are you engaged? ⠀
11. So you have a situationship?⠀I know some of these questions may seem comical, but guys have an “interesting” way of responding to them. As I continue to date, I’m still focusing on myself. I don’t feel pressed to jump into anything. I’m taking suggestions at additional questions.⠀⠀
What are some questions you ask on a first date? ⠀⠀

When I look at my core friends, I can think of two friends that I never thought would be my friends. Lol.

Storytime: So, several of my friends and I used to work together and our friendship blossomed through the workplace.  However,  that isn’t the case for all my friendships. Lol. One friendship, in particular, started from work and I didn’t like this person.  Like they got on my last nerves every day. If anyone has worked with me, you know I take pride in everything I do and I like to shine at work and get awards. #showmetheraise

I was tasked with the assignment of training this person and they were not interested in learning the job. I would ask them, “Hey you want to try this by yourself to make sure you know what you are doing?”

They responded and said, “No.” I was livid. I didn’t want to be blamed for their failure since I was their trainer at work.  Of course, when this person finished training,  they were clueless regarding how they should work their desk.

As upset as they made me from not paying attention in my initial training, I re-trained them on the job and our friendship grew from there. To this day, we even have “inside” jokes about the training.  Lol.

Thankfully, this friend is one of my close friends now. They give awesome advice by lending a listening ear.
