Hello, my friends!
Writing once a month has become a meaningful rhythm for me. It has given me space to slow down, reflect, and be intentional about what I share. This month, my heart has been centered on two words: contentment and surrender.
Have you ever deeply desired something in your life? Maybe it was a new career opportunity, a spouse, clarity in your health, or even a fresh start. At times, it can feel like that very thing is just within reach. You begin to hope, to believe, and to anticipate that maybe this is the moment God answers your prayers.
And then things do not unfold the way you expected.
The opportunity does not come through. The report is not what you hoped for. The relationship does not progress. The door closes.
If we are not careful, disappointment in these moments can quietly turn into bitterness, especially when our expectations do not align with our reality. There is nothing wrong with having hope. In fact, we are called to hope. But I have been learning that two things can be true. We hold on to hope while also embracing contentment in the present moment.
I am sharing this from a very real place because this is the season I am currently walking through.
There are promises and prayers I still carry, things I believe God will do in my life. Yet I am learning how to wait on His timing while also finding peace in right now. In this season, I have found encouragement in paying attention to what God is already doing, celebrating the wins of others, and keeping my focus on what matters most, Jesus.
As the Apostle Paul writes:
“I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation… I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:11 to 13 NIV
Contentment does not mean we stop desiring or dreaming. It means we trust God enough to find peace even before the promise arrives.
Call to Action:
Take a moment today to reflect on your current season. Instead of focusing on what has not happened yet, ask yourself, what is God doing in my life right now that I can be grateful for? Write down three things you can celebrate today and let that gratitude anchor your heart in contentment while you wait.
